Eight International Federations Shortlisted for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games additional events<\/h3>\n
The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee today announced it has shortlisted eight IOC-recognised International Federations (IFs) proposing events to be considered for inclusion at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020).The eight shortlisted IFs are (sport alphabetical order):
\n1. World Baseball Softball Confederation \u2013 WBSC
\n2. World Bowling – WB
\n3. World Karate Federation – WKF
\n4. International Roller Sports Federation \u2013 FIRS
\n5. International Federation of Sport Climbing – IFSC
\n6. World Squash Federation – WSF
\n7. International Surfing Association – ISA
\n8. International Wushu Federation \u2013 IWUFThe Tokyo 2020 Additional Event Programme Panel will continue working to identify one or more additional events to be proposed by Tokyo 2020 to the IOC, based on the following key principles:
\n\u30fbThe additional event(s) will serve as a driving force to promote
\nthe Olympic Movement and its values, with a focus on youth appeal
\n\u30fbThe additional event(s) will add value to the Games by engaging
\nthe Japanese population and new audiences worldwide, reflecting
\nthe Tokyo 2020 Games vision
\n\u30fbThe selection procedure will be open and fair<\/p>\n

Successful applicants are now invited to participate in Phase II, which will include the submission of further details from the shortlisted IFs by 22 July 2015, and IF Interviews that will take place in Tokyo on 7-8 August 2015.<\/p>\n

The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee will make a decision on the event(s) to be proposed to the IOC in September 2015. The final decision, in line with the Olympic Charter, will be made at the 129th IOC Session in Rio in August 2016.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

UNDERWATER SPORTS IN THE LIST OF 26 FEDERATIONS WHO ASPIRE TO ENTER THE OLYMPIC GAMES TOKYO 2020<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n

The World Underwater Federation (CMAS) has published this Saturday on its official Facebook page CMAS Diverline the information that underwater activities (and specifically the finswimming) is in the list of 26 new sports that aspire to be included in the program of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

The Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee has received applications from 26 IOC-recognised International Federations (IFs) proposing events to be considered for inclusion at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad (Tokyo 2020). The applicant IFs were revealed at a press conference following a Tokyo 2020 Executive Board meeting today.<\/p>\n

The application process for additional event(s) to be included at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was opened on 8 May 2015, and the IOC-recognised IFs were required to return completed applications by 8 June 2015.<\/p>\n

The Tokyo 2020 Additional Event Programme Panel will now examine each application and a shortlist will be announced on 22 June 2015. The second phase of the application process will then commence.<\/p>\n

Review of the applications will be based on the following key principles:
\n\u30fbThe additional event(s) will serve as a driving force to promote the
\nOlympic Movement and its values, with a focus on youth appeal
\n\u30fbThe additional event(s) will add value to the Games by engaging the
\nJapanese population and new audiences worldwide, reflecting the
\nTokyo 2020 Games vision
\n\u30fbThe selection procedure will be open and fair<\/p>\n

Phase II will include the submission of further details from the shortlisted IFs and a presentation to the Additional Event Programme Panel will take place in Tokyo. The Additional Event Programme Panel will propose its recommendations to the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, which will make a final decision on the successful event(s) to be proposed to the IOC. The final decision, in line with the Olympic Charter, will be made by the 129th IOC Session in Rio in August 2016.<\/p>\n
