馃嚪馃嚭 Campeona y Recordista Mundial de Apnea, Natalia Molchanova de Rusia desaparecida en aguas de Espa帽a

El martes 4 de agosto fue informado, mediante un comunicado oficial emitido por la Asociaci贸n Internacional para el Desarrollo de la Apnea (AIDA) y diversos medios electr贸nicos como el portal Deeperblue聽y medios locales como El Diario de Ibiza, que la apneista rusa, m煤ltiple recordista y campeona mundial Natalia Molchanova, se encontraba desaparecida en aguas de las costas de Espa帽a cerca de la Isla Mediterr谩nea de Ibiza, desde el domingo 2 de agosto.

Molchanova, quien inicialmente se presum铆a se encontraba realizando algunas apneas recreativas sin aletas cerca de los 30 o 40 metros, se encontraba dictando un curso particular y en una de las inmersiones que realizaba como entrenamiento, aparentemente no volvi贸 a superficie posiblemente arrastrada por algunas fuertes corrientes submarinas. La alarma fue dada por 3 personas m谩s que se encontraban con ella.

Seg煤n fuentes locales, el 谩rea donde se encontraba el grupo era conocida por fuertes corrientes y tr谩fico de barcos.聽Una operaci贸n de b煤squeda y rescate incluyendo polic铆a mar铆tima, salvamento mar铆timo y un helic贸ptero Helimar 213, unidos por embarcaciones privadas comenz贸 el domingo por la tarde y continu贸 durante el d铆a lunes. Una empresa de b煤squeda y rescate especial se uni贸聽a los esfuerzos con robots submarinos capaces de buscar grandes superficies a baja profundidad.

Molchanova fue聽Campeona Mundial de apnea y m煤ltiple recordista mundial en m谩s de 40 ocasiones,聽con los r茅cords actuales en聽todas las disciplinas competitivas (exceptuando el No Limits). Adem谩s alcanz贸聽20 medallas de oro individuales y dos medallas de oro por equipos en聽varios Campeonatos Mundiales de Apnea.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 鈥 The Worlds Most Accomplished and Famous Female Freediver, Natalia Molchanova, is Missing.

Formentera, Spain. Natalia Molchanova was recreationally freediving off the coast of Spain on August 2, 2015 when she was separated from her peers. She was diving without fins to around 30 to 40 m and supposable got into strong underwater current. Search efforts have been ongoing during daylight hours and the next day since she was reported missing by three peers. She disappeared while diving approximately two miles聽northwest of the port of La Savina at聽Poniente de es Freus.

Natalia Molchanova is the most decorated competitive freediver in the world, holding 41 World Records and is a 23 time World Champion in Freediving. Natalia trained hard for her sport, she had a nine minute breath hold, could dive to a depth of 101m using a fin and swim a distance of 234m with a fin. Along with being one of the top athletes in the world she has a PhD in Pedagogical Science and has authored multiple scientific articles and two freediving training handbooks. She is the creator and current president of the Freediving Federation of Russia. She designed and taught freediving programs all over the world. She is based out of Moscow and has created one of the most vibrant recreational freediving communities in the world. Natalia has trained thousands of people to freedive in locations worldwide.

Natalia is a proud mother of Oksana and Alexey. She loved children and was awaiting the day when she would become a Grandmother. She was an inspiration to all freedivers and despite being one of the fiercest competitors in the world, she was always calm and relaxed during competitions. She said 鈥渂irth and death are important, but freediving competitions are just games for adults鈥. The cause of Natalia鈥檚 disappearance is unknown, but she was doing what she loved. Natalia has a passion for freediving that burned so deep inside of her that she dedicated her life to it.
